I do personally get annoyed if i spend the entire 5 seconds to check my phone blinking because of receiving spam messages from random online offers and discounts :p, well we all as marketers can avoid people who actually give a damn about receiving spam messages, by using OPT-IN E-MAIL. Opt-in E-mail works when the the potential consumers subscribe and decided that they want to receive updates and offers from us!! They will provide their name and e-mail, and they will click a thing such as “i’d love updates!” as what you have seen above!! They know they want your news and most importantly, they are aware about your spams soon ;).

So, what are the benefits?

1. Effective, they want your specific information!

If i wan’t to know about Culture Kings newsletter and updates i subscribed to their monthly e-mail offers and newsletter and so happy that sometimes they send me new updates of new jacket and sweatshirts! There’s no reason they are upset about your message.

This means that, you all as marketers need to understand and research the reason why there are bounce rate present in a company website. They need to make sure that those people can be converted to become people who actually purchase the product/ take action. Conversion events can be used such as sale, discounts and special coupon/ offers given to the customer who are currently browsing the website, we need to convert them to actually stay in the web page and take action to purchase, and in result we can gain benefits from high CONVERSION RATE.

Taking a look at McDonald’s using Facebook as a social media advertisement, versus the vintage traditional marketing which is using flyers/posters. With Facebook ad, the targeted consumer can see the advertisement with just a click and scroll thru Facebook on their smartphones and computers. Flyers and posters are often get ignored, people who receive a flyer will just use it as a wipe or throw it anyway :p, but sometimes McDonalds hunger came out of nowhere when you see a picture of triple cheeseburger in the city, any thaughts?

Now as we can see above, Adidas creted a online game that can be played by anyone that access the Adidas main website, the game is interesting and fun for football-lovers!! And after you finish the game, you get a score that can be shared to your social media platform such as twitter to be able to compete with your friends!! Adidas enhance their consumers in a social media activity so they feel closer with Adidas as a brand, and build sense of loyalty as well.

This shows PUYO Desserts Instagram page, they constantly updating pictures of their mouth-watering puddings that can be delivered right in front of your door! This Instagram page allows the consumers to comment the picture and tell their experience in slurping the delicious pudding, some may say they like it, and many will say they love it :p and maybe some say too sweet. If the case it is to sweet, PUYO will use that comment of random consumer as a resource to lessen the sugar in the purple taro pudding! Perfect sweetness isn’t it!

The Good would be to ADIDAS world cup campaign, that held just recently in Brazil, and sadly Germany won  :p. Well, moving on; this adidas campaign is that they are showing that they are being active and interactive on twitter, and also with this social media campaign they want to foster loyalty among the national fans, the result is that people would understand Adidas philosophy and approach to football; alongside with Adidas interactive world cup advertisement starring Lionel Messi, Arjen Robben, and the young rising star James Rodriguez, they surely are going to get a big big benefit.

In fact, Sales in the Latin America have jumped from €179m (£143m) to €1.575bn (£1.262bn). And worldwide the expected national shirt sales is expected to jump as high as 8 million shirts with their 9 national country sponsors. And expecting 14 million sales of their national soccer ball; the brazuca!

This is the biggest marketing campaign done by Adidas, and interestingly the winner of the world cup is Germany and it is sponsored by Adidas. All eyes are on The Germans shirt sponsored by Adidas isn’t it? so, Splash the cash?

-Twitter’s Buying Follower Case-

For The Bad, it is nominated for a misuse of buying twitter follower in Twitter social media platform, it is when (for example) Celebrity buy followers to gain popularity and awareness from the public. Example here is Katy Perry who purchase twitter follower, in which 49% of them are fake, in head counts, 17,140,029 are fake scam accounts, those are imaginary friends i should say! And with this, she held the highest number of fake followers in the world. She’s bad eh people?, she’s bad.

In Twitter; Some say, it’s a Hashtag turning into Bashtag :p, well when McDonald made this campaign was originally to promote the brand and engage with customers! But what happen is that people are using this in twitter to tell their negative experience in eating McDonald’s food.

Digital Marketing : Is It Really Useful?

It is not very seldom for small to medium sized business to practice digital marketing. But is it really that helpful for them? Lets take an example done by Coca Cola back in 2011, they started the Share a Coke campaign. Coca Cola started to print random people names on the coke bottle and turns out that in social media platform, people loves to upload picture showing the coke bottle with their name on it, in which this can surely increase awareness!! But, is it that useful? A research has been done to identify which are the important objectives of digital marketing at several businesses. As a result, businesses use digital marketing campaign such as what Coca Cola did, mostly is to drive sales! While increasing awareness and to drive customer involvement came 2nd and 3rd, the effect of digital marketing campaign could actually lead to that other objectives. Lets say that suppose Coca Cola marketers did this campaign to drive sales, they surely achieve a lift in awareness and customer are getting involved as well; by just uploading pictures in Instagram! Here below you can see the survey done with the scale out of 5, according to the importance of the use of digital marketing for several businesses.

Learning from Coca Cola campaign, their sales increased by 7%, including an increase in Coca Cola site traffic by 870%!! This is a huge figure received by Coca Cola by creating a digital marketing campaign. So in my opinion, for businesses to achieve the objective above, digital marketing campaign would be a great tool. But for small businesses, cost in making this kind of campaign is a hard job for their marketers; in terms of finance and effort. Because, small businesses do not have much to offer; in which their potential customer would not even bother to be involved.

So,It is useful isn’t it when applied in correct circumstances?

Recognise this French premium cable television somewhere in news or headlines? This French cable television shows many entertainment programmes. Canal+ shows cinema, sport, series and so on. But in here their marketing strategy is very interactive for their Canal+ sport, this Viviendi-owned television channel broadcast live games from UEFA champions league, Premiere League, Spanish La Liga, and other top soccer league in the world (professional).

This is a clever use of digital advertising by Canal+ sport marketing!! Such interactive video created by them, with a clear message that they can bring football closer for those people who subscribe to Canal+ Sport live professional football coverage. People would love to watch football closer with their superstar/ favourite player! This bring affection to play by just creating a smart marketing advertisement. Canal+ Sport HD is available to bring flat screen to reality.

Canal+ also enable people to watch live TV from their website at canalplus.fr. Another cool fact is that Canal+ is well up to date on twitter, the picture below on the right shows you the twitter feed of Canal+, very interactive and good looking isn’t it?. Well its in French of course, and as you can see they are really active on twitter, the us is to be able to communicate with the watchers out there who are using twitter; basically the tweets are about the reminder of a show, some pictures of the presenters and some pop up news. Seems like 140 words is enough for them.

Are We Donating, or Are We Wasting?

I think everybody is now aware with this ALS ice bucket challenge, that many celebrities, stars, and singers such as David Beckham, Zac Efron, and Ed Sheeran has done. Such a contribution by them to show this in social media!. With 28million uploads of this ice bucket challenge in the internet, the ALS association has collected $98.2m in a period of one month! This campaign is aiming on helping ALS association to create awareness to the world about the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) disease and gain donations. Check out this video where celebrities uploading their ALS ice bucket challenge!

NOW, in the other hand if you guys think; this campaign wasted totalling 25k Tons of water!!!

If you think that wasting 25ton of clean water is okay, go ahead and nominate your friends again and challenge them with this ice bucket challenge. But with a common sense, don’t we realise that somewhere out there in Africa, and in deep suburb in my home country Indonesia, where people there have a hard access to clean water. So many deaths are caused because they are exposed to contaminated water to bath, drink and cook.

That’s the power of social media, it can easily influence many people to take part in the challenge with just few of celebrities start doing the challenge. It has created awareness with a good aim/goal, but at the same time negative feedback and downside issue like this should be shared as well to the world. It’s just part of saving the clean water for those who needs it isn’t it.

BMW: Get Connected While On Traffic

How addicted are you to your phone? on average human check their phone 110 times per day, peaking from 5pm to 8pm. Let’s take an example that after you finish from Uni or work at the evening, and you have to get home quick to rest; and BAM! traffic is just in front of you.

Simply by just downloading BMW app to your smartphone and you will be able to access your Twitter, Facebook from the big screens! So you wont get to see your phone while driving; which is dangerous. Just simply roll over to the big screens and you will be able to see your Twitter and Facebook timeline, you can update status as well in your car like “Chillin’ here at my BMW while on traffic”. How convenient.
